Turned on my radio this evening and I have no sound at all. I cannot adjust the volume from the dash or from the steering wheel. Everything else seems to be working fine, I can change stations and bands but still have no sound. Does anyone know of a fix for this please? It wasn't too bad tonight as I was on my own, but I fear that I may have to talk to the missus if the radio doesn't work next time she's with me! lol.
I had same symptom one day whilst on the move. It did reset after turning ignition off and on (not whilst on move -of course). There is I think a software upgrade/fix for something like this. If you car is not older than an 06 plate then this may already be done. Might be worth asking dealer though.

Thanks for the replies. It worked fine this morning so I'm assuming it's a software problem. I'm off to the main stealer for a service next month so I'll ask about an software upgrade then.
Yes this is a software problem and yes, Volvo are aware of it. The short term fix is to turn the ignition off, remove the key and wait about a minute. You'll hear the radio power off completely. Once it's shut down you can re-insert the key and turn the radio on again. It's probably happened to me about 5 times in the space of 4 years, and as the nearest Volvo dealer is 2 hours away from me I haven't got Volvo to sort it yet! :P
Main dealer in Inverness have said that have never heard of a problem with the radio, but if it is a software problem then I would have to pay for the upgrade. Has anyone else had the upgrade and did you pay for it?
If the car is in warranty and the radio sometimes doesnt work properly it would be warranty wouldnt it . If not in warranty i guess you will have to pay for it .
