I've been struggling with deep rolling acne scars on my cheeks for years. I've tried microneedling three times and while my skin texture improved a bit, the indentations are still very noticeable. I'm feeling pretty discouraged. Is there anything that actually works for this type of scarring, or is it something I just have to learn to live with?

It can feel like a long road, but don't lose hope. Rolling scars are notoriously stubborn because they involve tethered bands under the skin. Microneedling can help, but it often needs to be combined with other techniques or performed at a much deeper level (like subcision) to release those fibers. A true acne scar specialist would typically assess your scar type and suggest a combination approach. Have you consulted with anyone who specifically lists acne scar revision as a specialty?

I was in the exact same boat. I had a mix of rolling and boxcar scars that made my skin look uneven, especially in certain lighting. After endless research, I found that a combination treatment plan was the key. I ended up getting subcision to release the tethers, followed by fractional laser to remodel the collagen. The change was significant, though it took a few sessions and downtime. The clinic I went to had a great page explaining one part of the process, laser for vascular issues that sometimes accompany scars, which you can check out https://bellasanamedspa.com/service/laser-spider-vein-removal. It's not the whole solution for scars, but understanding the tech helps. Look for places that offer a full consultation and talk about multi-modal plans.
